The Fitness Weirdo Challenge - March

February is coming to and end and with it, the idea of spring, summer and warm temperatures starts to awake in our minds. Unless you live in a place like the UK, that is, where it's still pretty cold! For many of you, the idea of that coveted beach body (whatever that means) has started to grow, and the prospect of good weather will soon make us want to jog around the park.

If your goal is to change the way you look, or to improve your health by the time summer comes, you need to start working now, and that's why we're doing challenges during March. The idea is simple, challenge yourself to whatever you want to achieve, and share it on social media using the hashtag #TFWchallengemarch so we can all see your progress and send likes your way.

What sort of challenge?

Anything, really. Ideally, fitness, but we want you to get out of your comfort zone and pursue your goals like a boss this month. We share some ideas with you at the bottom.

I started a challenge last week, but unfortunately I can't use the website anymore (they only allow to take part on one free challenge, it seems, and I don't think full membership for this particular website is right for me). Not being able to log my progress on that website is not a problem, I'm still doing the challenge, and since I'm doing it alone, well, I'm already a winner by default! How about that? However, in the spirit of the challenge month, I'll be sharing my progress on Instagram with all of you.

Changing habits and challenging ourselves is so difficult (and scary), but you don't have to do it on your own, that's why we're here!

So, what should you do?

Think of a challenge you want to start, maybe something you have wanted to do for a long time but never did. Think whatever, think different, think big! It can be anything from running 5k (it might take you longer than a month), doing your first push/pull up, to meditation, learning a new language, take up yoga, making a new friend each day... Anything!

On 1st March, share one of the images below on social media, with a short description of your challenge and the hashtag #TFWchallengemarch (so we can see it!). Tag The Fitness Weirdo (@thefitnessweirdo) too!

Post at least one image each week with your progress, so you can receive our admiration. We'll see, we'll like, heck we might even comment and follow!

Finally, the most important step of it all, have fun.

And here are some ideas for you, if you can't think of any challenges:

  • Lose 4kg of body fat
  • Run first mile
  • Run first 5k race
  • Do yoga every single day for a month
  • Walk 10,000 steps every single day for a month
  • Make a new friend per day
  • Learn a new language (at least for a very basic conversation)
  • Make a drawing a day for a month
  • Learn how to swim
  • Swim 100m without stopping
